Spring Equinox: Returning to Balance

Twice a year, the world pauses in perfect equilibrium.

At the Spring Equinox, day and night stand equal. Light and dark are in balance before the light starts to advance It is a quiet turning point — a moment where nature reminds us that growth begins with balance.

Spring has long been associated with renewal. Seeds begin to stir beneath the soil. The world softens and opens. And within us, something similar begins to shift.

If we stop and allow it, we notice what feels ready to change. The old patterns that begin to loosen. The new possibilities that start to appear.

But real transformation doesn't happen if we do nothing, and it rarely comes from pushing forward. It comes from creating space — from acknowledging both the light and shadow we carry, and enabling them to come back into harmony.

The Spring Equinox invites us to plant seeds of intention. To clear stagnant energy. To welcome fresh possibilities.

It is a moment to gently ask ourselves:

What am I ready to release?

What wants to grow in its place?

A Despacho for the Equinox

This year, Olivia, of Love & Willow, and I have planned to mark the Spring Equinox during our retreat with a Despacho and Fire Ceremony.

A despacho is a sacred offering ceremony from the Andean tradition. It is a way of restoring balance - within ourselves, with the earth, and with the unseen energies that support life.

Small symbolic offerings are gathered together with prayer and intention: gratitude for what has been, acknowledgement of what we are ready to release, and seeds of possibility for what we wish to invite into our lives.

The despacho is then offered to the fire, allowing transformation to take place.

Although the retreat has no more availability, the spirit of the equinox is something we can all honour in our own way.

If you feel called to mark the Spring Equinox this year, you might choose to create a simple ritual of your own - lighting a candle, writing down what you are ready to let go, or setting a clear intention for the season ahead. Ceremony is simply a way of pausing long enough to listen.

And if you would like to learn how to create a simple despacho ceremony at home, l've put together a short guide you're very welcome to receive.

This time of year often brings things quietly to the surface. People tell me they feel tired in a way that rest doesn't fix, or they are aware that something in their life is shifting but they don't quite know what it is yet. Sometimes it simply feels like you've been carrying a little too much for a little too long.

Many of us reach a point where we realise we've been holding everything together for everyone else - and quietly wondering when it might be our turn to be held.

This is often the kind of moment when energy work can be surprisingly supportive.

Spring is, after all, the season of new beginnings.

If something in you would like to honour the Equinox this year, simply reply "Equinox" and I'll send you the simple despacho ceremony we'll be holding.

I would love to hear from you.

Or, if you'd prefer, you can request it here and I'll send it straight to your inbox.
